Mary Goodman, Owner

Mary Goodman has created and taught developmental music programs for babies and young children for over twenty years. She also conducts training seminars about music and learning to early childhood educators and caregivers. Mary believes everyone is “musical”, and enjoys fostering an early love and appreciation for music. Her ultimate reward is watching the learning that happens in the process! Mary is a wife and mother of three young boys.

Missy Powers, Owner

Missy Powers owned and operated two early childhood learning centers from 1994-2004 with over 30,000 children participating. Missy has been a lecturer for New Directions Institute for Infant Brain Development and gives seminars on how the brain wires up for learning from newborns to age three. Missy is passionate about young children and babies, and is dedicated to providing caregivers with tools to enhance their child’s brain development. Missy is a wife and mother of five grown children, and has nine young grandchildren.

Dr. Jill Stamm, Ph.D.

Dr. Jill Stamm is the co-founder of New Directions Institute for Infant Brain Development and is a professor at Arizona State University.  New Directions Institute (NDI), now under Arizona Childrens Association, provides neuroscientific research on how the brain wires up for learning in the important first 5 years of life. Dr. Stamm is an author and an international speaker on early brain development and the connection of healthy brain growth to later learning and school achievement.  She is a member of the National Advisory Panel of the Learning & The Brain Conference series, and is also on Musicology’s Advisory Board.

MUSICOLOGY is proud to be affiliated with Arizona Children’s Association (AZCA), and the founder of New Directions Institute for Infant Brain Development, Dr. Jill Stamm. Our innovative developmental music curriculum is guided by research from Dr. Stamm’s best selling books, Bright from the Start, and Boosting Brain Power.

Dr. Jill Stamm is a professor at Arizona State University, and is also the noted author of:

  • The best-selling book “Bright From The Start – The Simple, Science-Backed Way to Nurture Your Child’s Developing Mind from Birth to Age 3.”
  • The newly released book “Boosting Brain Power – 52 Ways to Use What Science Tells Us”.

Musicology Community Outreach

Musicology is committed to giving babies and young children the best start in life through music and learning. Musicology is honored to be the recipient of grants that enable us to make a difference in the lives of children. Our partnership with Arizona Children’s Association, as well as collaborations with First Things First, Thrive To Five, AZCEND Gilbert, Chandler Care Center, local hospitals, parenting groups and various non-profits gives us the opportunity to bring the many benefits of music and brain development out to families in our community. Musicology is also written into grants through the following school districts: Paradise Valley, Peoria, Glendale, Deer Valley, Chandler, Creighton and Washington. We are very proud to be building stronger families and serving our communities!
